now i just hope that the stability is there.
i am currently in the process of upgrading this site to MovableType 3.32. part of this stems from my desire to get ImageMagick working so that i can upload pictures easily. upgrading that (on my web host) meant upgrading Perl. upgrading Perl broke the old MovableType. upgrading MovableType mean breaking all of the old entries. bah.
i am working to find a way to import all of the old entries into MT, but that may take some time. the fallback is to just go and statically link to the old site, which will work, but is not the way that i want to do it.
--crosses fingers--
well that went a lot quicker than i thought. all i had to do was uninstall a bunch of stuff and re-install older versions to be able to export my old site. then it was only a matter of reinstalling all the new stuff and re-importing the old data.
poof! magic i say. now to test out some picture uploads.

one of my favorite pictures from our honeymood in san francisco. this was taken on an overcast day at the japanese tea gardens in golden gate park. it was really quiet there although you could hear some traffic in the distance and i was trying to capture some of that in this image.
well, what i leared from all of this is that:
1.) i can't upload my full res images through MT. it cries about them being too large.
2.) i can't get the templates to work with how i would like them to.
3.) i am not sure that i want to have the blog work this way.
so, now i am off to re-download j-album and play with that some.
the world is a scary place right now. the current political climate, general distrust in the administration, and the projected attitude of unwillingness to engage in meaningful discourse (see quote below) gives me little comfort in my thinking about where the world is headed.
